I was fortunate to study music composition with Richard Wernick (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_…) in 2004-2006. One of my composition assignments was to analyze the Lyric Suite by Alban Berg and compose music from its tone row. What I came up with is a chord progression and variations that are quite my own.
